International Criminal Court

To the distinguished advocates and honorable judges of the International Criminal Court,

The International Criminal Court represents one of the highest forms of global justice. It is a place where accountability is upheld, where the voices of victims are heard, and where every individual is given the fair and impartial trial they deserve. Your work as advocates is essential in this process. Each argument you construct, each piece of evidence you present, and each examination you perform becomes a vital part of the search for truth inside this courtroom.

My name is Yusuf Mahafzah, a 12th grade student at Kings Academy, and it is an honor to
serve as your President of the International Criminal Court this year. In this committee, we will be engaging with complex and significant cases that test both legal reasoning and ethical judgment. These cases will challenge you to think deeply, prepare carefully, and advocate with confidence and clarity.

Although I sit before you this year as your president, I was once in your position as an advocate in this same committee. I understand the effort it takes to build a strong case and the challenges that come with interpreting international law. For that reason, I want every delegate to know that I am available for guidance from the moment allocations are released until the final statements are delivered. No case is impossible to argue, and creative, well supported reasoning can shift the direction of an entire trial.

I wish you all the best in your preparation and look forward to witnessing the dedication and talent you will bring to these proceedings. May this experience strengthen your skills, challenge your thinking, and give you a deeper appreciation for the pursuit of justice.

Sincerely,
Yusuf Mahafzah
President of the International Criminal Court
